What personal data SlashDev handles, why, who it goes to, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who we are
SlashDev builds software for startups and enterprises and connects clients with vetted engineering teams. For the data described here we act as the controller— we decide why and how it is processed. When we build or run systems for a client, the personal data inside those systems is processed on that client’s instructions and they are the controller; this policy does not cover that work.
For any privacy matter, contact us at info@slashdev.io. Please put “Privacy request” in the subject so it is routed correctly.
What we collect
When you use the website
- Technical data your browser sends: IP address, user agent, language, referring page and the pages you view. This is unavoidable in serving a page and is used in aggregate.
- Your cookie choice, and — only if you accepted the matching category — analytics and campaign-attribution data. See our Cookie Policy.
When you contact us or request a quote
- Name, email address, phone number, company and whatever you tell us about your project.
- If you arrived from an ad or campaign link, the campaign identifiers stored under marketing consent, so we can tell which channel produced the enquiry.
When you apply to join our developer network
- Contact details, CV or profile, work history, skills, links to public repositories or portfolios, location and rate expectations.
- Assessment results and interview notes produced during our vetting process.
We do not ask for special-category data (health, ethnicity, political opinions, biometrics) and ask that you do not include it in a CV or message. We do not knowingly collect payment card numbers through this website.
Why we use it
- To answer you and deliver work — responding to enquiries, scoping projects, staffing teams and running the engagement. Legal basis: performance of a contract, or our legitimate interest in replying to a business enquiry.
- To run our vetting and matching process — assessing applicants and proposing them to clients. Legal basis: performance of a contract and legitimate interest; consent where local employment law requires it.
- To keep the site working and secure — serving pages, preventing abuse, diagnosing errors. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- To understand and market our services — analytics and advertising measurement. Legal basis: your consent, given through the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time.
- To meet legal obligations — accounting, tax and responding to lawful requests. Legal basis: legal obligation.
Cookies and tracking
Analytics and advertising tags are denied by default and only activate if you accept them in the cookie banner. The Cookie Policy lists each cookie, its purpose and its lifetime, and lets you change or delete your choice.
Who we share it with
We disclose personal data only to:
- Service providers acting on our instructions — hosting and infrastructure, email delivery, CRM and scheduling, analytics and advertising platforms. Each is bound by a data processing agreement and may only use the data to provide its service.
- Clients — where you applied to work through us and we propose you for a role, limited to the profile information needed to assess you.
- Professional advisers, auditors and authorities — where we are legally required to disclose, or to establish or defend legal claims.
- An acquirer — if the business or part of it is sold, in which case this policy continues to apply until you are told otherwise.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond the advertising cookies you consent to.
International transfers
We operate across Europe and North America, so personal data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the EEA or the UK we rely on an adequacy decision where one applies, and otherwise on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses together with additional safeguards. Write to us if you want details of the mechanism used for a specific transfer.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become projects — kept while there is an active commercial conversation and then for a limited period for follow-up, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Client and engagement records — for the life of the contract and afterwards for as long as accounting, tax and limitation-period rules require.
- Developer applications — kept while your profile is active in our network; withdrawn or unsuccessful applications are deleted or anonymised on request.
- Cookie and analytics data — for the lifetimes listed in the Cookie Policy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, port it to another provider, or withdraw a consent you gave. You can also object at any time to use of your data for direct marketing, and we will stop.
If you are in California, you additionally have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it and to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell personal data, and the cookie banner is the opt-out mechanism for advertising cookies. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Email info@slashdev.io to exercise a right. We answer within one month and may need to verify your identity first. If you are unhappy with the outcome you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to systems holding personal data is restricted to people who need it, protected by individual accounts and multi-factor authentication, and reviewed periodically. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data and the law requires it, we will notify you and the relevant authority.
Children
This is a business website and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We update this policy when our practices change. Material changes are reflected in the date at the top, and where the change affects a consent you gave, we ask again.
