What is a telemedicine app?
A telemedicine app lets patients and clinicians meet remotely by video, phone or secure messaging instead of in person. A complete app also covers booking, a virtual waiting room, visit notes, prescriptions, payments and often remote monitoring, connected to the practice's EHR.
What is the difference between telemedicine and telehealth?
Telemedicine usually means remote clinical care: diagnosing and treating patients at a distance. Telehealth is the broader term and also includes remote monitoring, patient education and administrative services. We build both.
How do you make a telemedicine app HIPAA-compliant?
Video, chat and uploaded files all contain patient data, so they need encryption, access control, audit logging and HIPAA-eligible hosting, and every vendor involved, including the video and SMS providers, must sign a Business Associate Agreement. There is no official HIPAA certification for apps; compliance comes from how the app is built and operated, and we document both.
Will you sign a Business Associate Agreement?
Yes. We sign a BAA before we work with any protected health information, and we only use video, messaging and hosting providers that will sign one too.
